(1) 30 to 45 minutes allowed for the developer to present some information about the past, present, and future of the community with clarifications/definitions concerning various "zones" of the community and what to expect from them. This will include a brief presentation of the new Earthship Biotecture Educational facility for the public in the commercial area (not to be confused with the Greater World community facility slated for either the gravel pit or the well area for Greater World members only).
(2) Introduction of board members appointed by the developer per the by-laws.
(3) Nominations for one new board member as per the by-laws.
(4) The remaining time will be for question and answer with questions directed at the developer and/or the board members. We ask that only deeded members use this valuable time - friends of the members and guests are asked to observe only and respect the rights of the members of the community for this forum.
Hank Bruce, the founder of the non-profit, "Hunger Grow Away" www.hungergrowaway.com, will demonstrate the 16 square foot Cellu-Grow food production system and show how it could benefit food production efforts at Greater World.
Hank is going to, somehow, bring a live planter to Jonathan's home and demonstrate how it works so well. If you are into growing plants, food and flowers, this is a "must see" event!
Rosemary Romero, who is coordinating the creation of a grant proposal for the upper Rio Grande watershed, would like to have us, declare ourselves as a sub-watershed and create a grant proposal for watershed restoration projects here at the Greater World subdivision!
We invite you to join us SATURDAY JANUARY 28, 2006 FROM 6PM TO 9PM at our home at 2 Star Lane to brainstorm project ideas with Rosemary Romero.
This is a great opportunity to get funding for badly needed erosion control measures such as planting grasses and trees, digging swales and catchment ponds to slow down the water so it can recharge our aquifer and to reduce siltation of the water that does make it to the Rio Grande. I also believe there is money available for septic tank maintenance and repair/remediation as this also affects water quality in our watershed. Catchment of runoff for crop irrigation is also fundable since it does reduce the sheer amount of dirty runoff water entering the Rio Grande but is not as high a priority as other projects.
Please take a moment to and think of why watershed restoration would be in your self interest, take a look around the subdivision for project ideas and then confirm your attendance at the brainstorm session!
