Hi, youve probably already looked into this, and maybe even dismissed it,i dont know, but over here in the uk we recently had a dramatic increase in fuel prices, its come down a bit now, fair enough, but i still think its also another really good way to dispose of an unwanted waste product.I started to make my own bio fuel when the fuel prices started to rise, it takes a little time to process, and can be a little messy, but you soon get the hang of it,and the benefits are tremendous, my diesel costs dropped so much i almost couldnt believe it.Anyway my point is is that you could run a diesel generator from this fuel, and it would be able to power many things to help with the tasks of building etc, also the waste product which is filtered off can be mixed with sawdust to create fuel bricks which could be used throughout the winter. just some food for thought Very Happy thanks for reading...ja

Hi ja,

Earthship Biotecture, the company that is developing the Greater World subdivision and the earthship concept, has (or had?) a pretty active bio-diesel plant down by the visitor center.

I know at the time I visited them, they were scratching their heads about what to do with all the glycerin. I remember they were trying to use it in compost. I think purification and sale of it was ruled out due to capital requirements. But bricks?! I don't know if they considered that. Will the stuff burn?

It's a great resource for now. But once people start to catch on in a big way, I don't think there will be enough to go around.
