At the lake, we have spotted many birds such as:

Great Blue Heron
first year White Faced Ibis
American Avocet
female Northern Harrier

In my blackwater planter, I've spotted:

female Yellow Warbler
house finch or purple finch
Says Phoebe
Mockingbird
Western or Mountain Bluebird
Rock Wren

Monarch Butterfly
swallowtail butterfly
harlequin beetles
grasshoppers
whiteflies
ladybugs
green lacewings
brown lacewings
adult ant lion (looks like clumsy dragonfly)
dragon fly
damsel fly
damsel bugs
Says Green Stinkbug
"Butt Up" bugs (aka darkling beetles)
